New Pics of De Niro and Dano as father and son in Being Flynn

Being Flynn with Robert DeNiro Gets A Poster and a Trailer!

Being Flynn is a film we first talked about last November when the first trailer was released. (I was happy to finally know what De Niro was in Boston filming last year. I need to follow OLV more closely!) It stars Robert De Niro and Paul Dano as father and son, both writers, with a troubled, to say the least, relationship. I have to say, I love the tag line: ““We're all works in progress”. We have some great new images from the film below.

Working in a Boston homeless shelter, Nick Flynn, a writer in his twenties and trying to find his own voice, re-encounters his father, a con man and brilliant self-proclaimed poet. Sensing trouble in his own life, Nick wrestles with the notion of reaching out yet again to his dad. Julianne Moore plays Nick’s mother, who raised him alone.

Director Chris Weitz, best known for About a Boy with Hugh Grant, adapted Flynn’s novel for the screen. Being Flynn stars De Niro, Dano, Moore, Olivia Thirlby, Lili Taylor, Billy Wirth and Dale Dickey. Focus Features is releasing Being Flynn in the US on March 2.

INMF Trailer Park: The Hunger Games, Red Lights and The Cold Light of Day!

Final Poster and New Image for The Hunger Games!

Here’s a look at the brand spanking new trailer #2 for The Hunger Games which will air during this Sunday’s Super Bowl! The trailer includes a lot of new footage and dialogue. It includes glimpses of Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss at The Reaping, in the arena, talking to Stanley Tucci’s Cesar Flickerman, as well as more of Effie Trinket (Elizabeth Banks) Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) and Lenny Kravitz as Cinna.

The long wait is almost over. The Hunger Games opens on March 23 so I expect we’ll be getting new goodies every few days or so until then. Stay tuned!

We showed you a poster for Red Lights yesterday, today we have the domestic (English) version of the trailer.

Synopsis: Two investigators of paranormal hoaxes, the veteran Dr. Margaret Matheson (Sigourney Weaver) and her young assistant, Tom Buckley (Cillian Murphy), study the most varied metaphysical phenomena with the aim of proving their fraudulent origins. Simon Silver, a legendary blind psychic (Robert De Niro), reappears after an enigmatic absence of 30 years to become the greatest international challenge to both orthodox science and professional sceptics. Tom starts to develop an intense obsession with Silver, whose magnetism becomes stronger with each new manifestation of inexplicable events. As Tom gets closer to Silver, tension mounts, and his worldview is threatened to its core.

Still no official release date but I’ll keep you posted. I’m looking forward to this!

INMF Trailer Park: The Hunger Games, Red Lights and The Cold Light of Day!

The Cold Light of Day with Henry Cavill, Bruce Willis and the 2nd of today’s trailers that feature Sigourney Weaver, in which a young American Wall Street trader (Cavill) uncovers a conspiracy during his attempt to save his family, who were kidnapped while on vacation in Spain. Willis plays Cavill’s father, whom he discovers is not the mild-mannered businessman he was presumed to be, but a CIA operative.

This is director Mabrouk El Mechri’s English language debut and was written by Scott Wiper and John Petro. The trailer would seem to give a lot away. Some are calling this another “Bourne wanna-be”. I don’t see that but it does seem like a B movie given a good cast and trying for more. Oh well, we need something to tide us over until Man of Steel, right? The Cold Light of Day opens April 6 in the US and the UK.

New Posters for Bel Ami, The Raven, Intruders and Red Lights!

Posters for Bel Ami, The Raven, Intruders and Red Lights!

There’s a new UK poster for Bel Ami, the latest adaptation of the Guy de Maupassant short story about a young man’s rise to power in Paris via his manipulation of the city's most influential and wealthy women.

A great deal of the film's success will hinge on Pattinson's sex appeal, of course.  I like the fact that there is a comparison on the poster to Dangerous Liaisons. Pattinson’s fans, most of them, may be too young to get the reference, but those who do remember that film (as well as the very stylish version known as Valmont, with Colin Firth) will be interested in Bel Ami.  (A costume drama set in fin de sicle Europe will need all of the help it can get).

The cast also includes Kristin Scott Thomas and Uma Thurman (the latter, two beautiful actresses who just happen to be over 40. I’m delighted they’re both being treated as ‘sexual beings’),  Christina Ricci who looks as light and fragile as a porcelain doll, Holliday Grainger (Lucrezia Borge in The Borges), Philip Glennister and Colm Meaney. Bel Ami finally has release dates of March 2 in the US and 9th March in the UK.

I’m not sure how I feel about the new poster for James McTeigue’s The Raven. (I know I wasn’t happy that the film got pushed back to April.) The psychedelic raven’s wings look like they’ve sprouted from John Cusack’s back and turned him into an angel from hell.  I suppose I just need to go with it, as much as a slight alcoholic consumptive is being played by John Cusack. It is stunning though, as have been the two previous.

The cast of the fictionalized account of the last days of Edgar Allan Poe's life, in which the poet pursues a serial killer whose murders mirror those in the writer's stories, also includes Luke Evans, Alice Eve, Brendan Gleeson and Oliver Jackson-Cohen. It opens 9th March in the UK and April 27 in the US.

Millennium Entertainment has issued a new one-sheet for Juan Carlos Fresnadillo’s fright-fest, The Intruders, which blanks out Clive Owen’s lovely face. Although I’m sure that’s meant to be a clue to the plot, I don’t have to like it.

Millennium’s press release:

"From visionary filmmaker JUAN CARLOS FRESNADILLO (28 Weeks Later, the upcoming Highlander reboot), INTRUDERS is the chilling story of two children living in different countries, each visited nightly by a faceless being who wants to take possession of them.
INTRUDERS stars CLIVE OWEN (Children of Men), CARICE VAN HOUTEN (Repo Men), PILAR LÓPEZ DE AYALA (Juana la Loca),DANIEL BRÜHL (Inglorious Bastards), KERRY FOX (Shallow Grave) and HÉCTOR ALTERIO (Son of the Bride)."

The Intruders finally comes out March 30th.

Red Lights from director Rodrigo Cortes (Buried) was also snapped up for release by Millennium Entertainment, just after its Sundance premiere. Elizabeth Olsen stars alongside Robert De Niro, Sigourney Weaver and Cillian Murphy.

The plot follows De Niro as a famous blind telekinetic who becomes the number one target of a “university- backed team of paranormal skeptics.”

Red Lights hits Fresnadillo’s native Spain in March. No US dates confirmed yet, but we’ll keep you posted.

Killer Elite DVD Details Revealed with a New Clip!

Killer Elite DVD Details Revealed with a New Clip!

I talked up this tasty hyper testosterone buffet called Killer Elite a great deal last fall prior to its September 23rd release into US theaters. Critics didn’t much care for it, although audiences did seem to dig it enough to make it a modest hit. I am not ashamed to say I enjoyed it immensely. I didn’t exactly have to check my brain at the door, but it didn’t ask much from me and I didn’t ask much from it. I wanted to see Jason Statham and Clive Owen being all Jason Statham and Clive Owen with a side of Robert De Niro thrown in and I was not disappointed. I actually thought it was one of the smarter action-adventure yarns of the past few years.

Killer Elite, director Guy McKendry's macho-man extravaganza is the story of Danny Bryce (Jason Statham) ,a retired member of Britain's Elite Special Air Service, who is forced into action when his mentor (Robert De Niro) is taken captive. His mission: kill three assassins dispatched by their cunning leader (Clive Owen). (Ahhh…one last chance to use that phrase. Happy New Year!)

The clip, which is actually in the movie, not part of the dvd special features, is called “The Team Chases a Witness”. That’s Dominic Purcell with the 70’s mop of hair and the porn ‘tache that rivals Clive Owen’s.

Killer Elite will be available on Blue-Ray Combo Pack with UltraViolet, DVD, On Demand and Digital Download beginning January 10.

Blu-Ray and DVD Bonus Features:

-Deleted/Extended Scenes

Blu-Ray Exclusive Bonus Features:

Plus iPad and Android tablet owners can enjoy a new, enhanced edition of pocket Blu made especially to take advantage of the tablets' larger screen and high resolution display. Consumers will be able to browse through a library of Blu-ray content and watch entertaining extras on-the-go in a way that's bigger and better than ever before. pocket Blu offers advanced features such as:

-Advanced Remote Control: A sleek, elegant new way to operate your Blu-ray player. Users can navigate through menus, playback and BD-Live functions with ease.

-Video Timeline: Users can easily bring up the video timeline, allowing them to instantly access any point in the film.

-Mobile To-Go: Users can unlock a selection of bonus content with their Blu-ray discs to save to their device or to stream from anywhere there is a Wi-Fi network, enabling them to enjoy content on the go, anytime, anywhere.

-Browse Titles: Users will have access to a complete list of pocket Blu-enabled titles available and coming to Blu-ray Hi-Def. They can view free previews and see what additional content is available to unlock on their device.

Killer Elite stars Jason Statham, Clive Owen, Robert De Niro, Dominic Purcell,  Yvonne Strahovski, Ben Mendelsohn and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.

I threw in a few pics of The Stath at a special screening of Killer Elite at Edwards AFB. I'm a giver.

Being Flynn with Robert DeNiro Gets A Poster and a Trailer!

Being Flynn with Robert DeNiro Gets A Poster and a Trailer!

We’ve got the first trailer for Paul Weitz’s Being Flynn with Robert De Niro, Paul Dano and Julianne Moore. How is it possible I had not heard a single thing about a movie with a cast like that, one based on a best-selling memoir, Nick Flynn’s “Another Bullshit Night in Suck City”, no less?  (I wish they’d had the balls to keep the book’s title. The film’s rated R anyway.) At least I finally know what De Niro was doing here in Boston this past Spring. I need to pay more attention to these things!

Nick Flynn (Dano) is a writer in his twenties, trying to find his voice, who works at various homeless shelters in Boston, where he often intersects with his brilliant but troubled father (De Niro). Moore plays Nick’s mother, who raised him alone. Check out the trailer.

Weitz, best known for About a Boy with Hugh Grant, knows his way around comedic drama or dramatic comedy, however you want to look at it. Being Flynn with De Niro, Dano, Moore, Olivia Thirlby, Lili Taylor, Billy Wirth and Dale Dickey. We have the first trailer and the first poster, but only the vague release info of “2012”.

Int’l Poster Plus Jason Statham and Clive Owen Talk About Killer Elite!

Int'l Poster Plus Jason Statham and Clive Owen Talk About Killer Elite!

Along with the new International poster, we have a couple of short interviews for the upcoming action-adventure/spy drama Killer Elite. Didn’t I tell you this stuff was going to climb flying at us? (I saw a standee for K.E. at the theater yesterday when I saw The Debt and I got all excited!) Jason Statham, who brought his stubble, and Clive Owen, who brought the evil ‘tache, sat down to talk about making the film and working with first time director Guy McKendry and, of course, acting royalty Robert De Niro.

I know I’m not supposed to think this when looking at Jason Statham, but he is absolutely adorable when he smiles. In this clip he talks about his character, Danny Bryce, working with De Niro, working with the director, training for the role and the film’s story:

…and I could listen to Clive Owen talk for hours. Love that deep, rumbling voice. (He used to be #1 on my List of 5 Freebies until…well, you can guess…) In the first clip, Owen speaks to what attracted him to the project, his character, Spike, preparing for the role and the fight sequences.

In the second, he talks about working with Guy McKendry, what the film is about and who the “Feather Men” are:

Killer Elite opens everywhere September 23. Hopefully we’ll get a verdict from Fearless Leader after she sees it at TIFF!
