So I went to see U2 last night at the Rogers’ Centre in Toronto and was part of a crowd of approximately 63,000!
The concert was incredible. Snow Patrol opened for them and they were great, and loud!
Bono, The Edge, Larry Mullen Jr. and Adam Clayton came out on stage at approximately 8:45 p.m. and didn’t leave until about 11:15. We were on our feet from the moment they hit the stage, it was such a party. I’ve included a playlist from their Chicago stop and I think (although I’m quite brain dead today) it’s pretty much the order of what was played in Toronto.
1 Breathe
2 No Line on the Horizon
3 Get On Your Boots
4 Magnificent
5 Beautiful Day/Blackbird (Beatles snippet)
6 Elevation
7 I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For/Stand By Me (Ben E. King snippet)
8 Stuck in a Moment You Can’t Get Out Of
9 Unknown Caller
10 The Unforgettable Fire
11 City Of Blinding Lights
12 Vertigo
13 I’ll Go Crazy If I Don’t Go Crazy Tonight
14 Sunday Bloody Sunday/Oliver’s Army (Elvis Costello snippet)
15 Pride (In The Name Of Love)
16 MLK
17 Walk On/You’ll Never Walk Alone (snippet)
18 Where The Streets Have No Name
Encore
19 One
20 Bad/40 (snippet)
Second encore
21 Ultra Violet (Light My Way)
22 With Or Without You
23 Moment of Surrender
I wasn’t too close to the stage, and was not using a great camera, so the pictures aren’t of them in person but of them on the screen above the stage. The stage, as you will see was out of this world.
The Rogers’ Centre has a retractable roof (that was left open for the concert) where when you look up, you see our world famous CN Tower (I’ve included a picture of it). It was a beautiful night and U2 did not disappoint.
