Spreading the Wrath! New Stills and Posters for Wrath of the Titans!
We just brought you the first trailer for Wrath of the Titans, the sequel to 2010’s Clash of the Titans, the week before Christmas. Today we have, thanks to Warner Brothers, ten new hi-res stills and four monster character posters to share! Two reasons to be hopeful about this film: One, that first trailer made the thing appear to be miles ahead of its predecessor. Starting with Liam Neeson’s voice as Zeus giving his half human son Perseus (Sam Worthington) some fatherly advice was a good idea, so was using Marilyn Manson’s cover of the Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams”. Two, the movie was filmed in 3D as opposed to the (terrible) post-conversion done to the 2010 film. I don’t think I’ll ever be fully on board the 3D bandwagon, but if you’re going to do it, do it right.
Synopsis:
A decade after his heroic defeat of the monstrous Kraken, Perseus (Worthington) –the demigod son of Zeus (Neeson)–is attempting to live a quieter life as a village fisherman and the sole parent to his 10-year old son, Helius. Meanwhile, a struggle for supremacy rages between the gods and the Titans. Dangerously weakened by humanity’s lack of devotion, the gods are losing control of the imprisoned Titans and their ferocious leader, Kronos, father of the long-ruling brothers Zeus, Hades (Fiennes) and Poseidon (Danny Huston). The triumvirate had overthrown their powerful father long ago, leaving him to rot in the gloomy abyss of Tartarus, a dungeon that lies deep within the cavernous underworld. Perseus cannot ignore his true calling when Hades, along with Zeus’ godly son, Ares (Edgar Ramirez), switch loyalties and make a deal with Kronos to capture Zeus. The Titans’ strength grows stronger as Zeus’ remaining godly powers are siphoned, and hell is unleashed on earth. Enlisting the help of the warrior Queen Andromeda (Rosamund Pike), Poseidon’s demigod son, Argenor (Toby Kebbell), and fallen god Hephaestus (Bill Nighy), Perseus bravely embarks on a treacherous quest into the underworld to rescue Zeus, overthrow the Titans and save mankind.
Bill Nighy!Toby Kebbell! (last seen as one of the humans given a few minutes of screen time in that saccharin-infused War Horse. Spoiler: the horse stole the movie from every one of them) Edgar Ramirez! Ok, ya got me. I’ll pay to see Edgar Ramirez in 3D. Oh yeah, and the monsters look really cool too.
Wrath of the Titans, directed by Jonathan Liebesman (Battle Los Angeles, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning) is unleashed March 30 in the US and the UK. Much more to come in the next three months I’m sure. Enjoy the new pics!
