U2 Set To Release 20 Years of Achtung Baby on November 1

U2 Set To Release 20 Years of Achtung Baby on November 1

U2's Achtung Baby was originally released back in 1991 and as a way of celebrating its 20th year anniversary, a special anniversary edition will be made available on November 1, 2011 (in the U.S.) and October 31, 2011 internationally. There are actually 5 different anniversary packages available in vinyl, CD, DVD, and digital options you can purchase each one beyond cool and unique.  I'm including the pictures of those 5 different packages!

The editions contain unreleased material, video, remixes, b-sides and documentary footage discovered, a full album of demo and early versions of the final 1991 tracklisting has also been revealed. Check out their site for pre-orders.

When it was first released 20 years ago, Bono described it as “the sound of four men chopping down The Joshua Tree”. It went on to win a Grammy® Award for Best Rock Performance and remains timeless to this day.

A trailer From The Sky Down documentary is included in the anniversary edition. It opened up the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival.

U2′s Bono & The Edge Visit Turkey [PHOTOS]

U2's Bono & The Edge Visit Turkey

U2′s Bono, his wife Ali Hewson take in the sights at Reina in Istanbul, Turkey.  And by sights I mean neat looking drinks and sexy belly dancers with lovely breasts. I freaking LOVE the look on Bono’s face.  Like he’s never been in THAT situation before? Right.

The Edge and some other friends also join them in the festivities.

U2 Rocks Russia [PHOTOS]

U2 Rocks Moscow

Bono is back in good form as he and his U2 band mates rocked the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, Russia last night where the concert had a bit of controversy as members of Amnesty International were arrested beforehand for handing out pamphlets (they have since been released).

Sergei Nikitin, the head of the human rights group was assured by the band’s management that all of the necessary permits were in place:

“I don’t know if Bono knows about what happened to us,” he said.

“It was a typical publicity event, which this organisation has carried out in every city where U2 has performed.

Volunteers from Bono‘s own charity ONE Campaign against AIDS were forced out of the stadium.

Something tells me Bono is going to be mighty pissed.

During the concert Bono invited Russian rock star turned anti-Kremlin activist Yuri Shevchuk onstage for a rendition of Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door.

The band was also fined in Spain for playing their music too loud, missing rehearsal and playing past the deadline of midnight.

U2′s Bono & The Edge Support Christy Turlington

U2′s Bono and The Edge attended the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of No Woman, No Cry along with their spouses, Ali Hewson and Morleigh Steinberg respectively to support their friend Christy Turlington.

No Woman, No Cry marks the directorial debut of model Christy Turlington whose documentary:

shares the powerful stories of at-risk pregnant women in four parts of the world, including a remote Maasai tribe in Tanzania, a slum of Bangladesh, a post-abortion care ward in Guatemala, and a prenatal clinic in the United States.

Her husband, hunky Edward Burns, of course was there.

Celebs Out & About: Orlando Bloom, Britney Spears, Bono and other Beautiful People

full_orlando_bloom_004_wenn5399329

Orlando Bloom is surrounded by photographers at LAX as he arrives back from London.  How bizarre that must be to be standing there with all those people snapping your picture!

Jennifer Aniston is also arriving at LAX from London.  Let the rumours begin.

David Beckham arrives at LAX to catch a flight.  The rumours are getting juicier, no?  I didn’t recognize him.  He looks not very happy!

Britney Spears arrives at LAX from her Australian leg of her tour

U2′s Bono leaves Cipriani’s restaurant in London

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner pick up Violet.  He’s looking very G.I. Joe like!

U2 & Jay-Z Perform @ Brandenburg Gate

full_wenn8233868

U2 and Jay-Z teamed up to perform together at the 2009 European MTV Awards at the Brandenburg Gate to mark the 20 year anniversary since the fall of The Berlin Wall.

Apparently fans who did not have tickets had their view restricted by MTV concert organizers with their own wall. Berlin’s city government released this statement:

“I find it rather unfortunate and unusual for organisers of a free concert – particularly one of this nature – to demand such a barrier.

According to MTV it’s for the fans’ own good:

“We are asking fans without tickets to watch the concert on television. The barrier is for security reasons and to contain the crowd, allowing the surrounding shops and restaurants to continue trading.

I’m sure we haven’t heard the end of this.

U2 Rocked Toronto

156

So I went to see U2 last night at the Rogers’ Centre in Toronto and was part of a crowd of approximately 63,000!

The concert was incredible.  Snow Patrol opened for them and they were great, and loud!

Bono, The Edge, Larry Mullen Jr. and Adam Clayton came out on stage at approximately 8:45 p.m. and didn’t leave until about 11:15.  We were on our feet from the moment they hit the stage, it was such a party.  I’ve included a playlist from their Chicago stop and I think (although I’m quite brain dead today) it’s pretty much the order of what was played in Toronto.

1 Breathe
2 No Line on the Horizon
3 Get On Your Boots
4 Magnificent
5 Beautiful Day/Blackbird (Beatles snippet)
6 Elevation
7 I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For/Stand By Me (Ben E. King snippet)
8 Stuck in a Moment You Can’t Get Out Of
9 Unknown Caller
10 The Unforgettable Fire
11 City Of Blinding Lights
12 Vertigo
13 I’ll Go Crazy If I Don’t Go Crazy Tonight
14 Sunday Bloody Sunday/Oliver’s Army (Elvis Costello snippet)
15 Pride (In The Name Of Love)
16 MLK
17 Walk On/You’ll Never Walk Alone (snippet)
18 Where The Streets Have No Name

Encore
19 One
20 Bad/40 (snippet)

Second encore
21 Ultra Violet (Light My Way)
22 With Or Without You
23 Moment of Surrender

I wasn’t too close to the stage, and was not using a great camera, so the pictures aren’t of them in person but of them on the screen above the stage.  The stage, as you will see was out of this world.

The Rogers’ Centre has a retractable roof (that was left open for the concert) where when you look up, you see our world famous CN Tower (I’ve included a picture of it).  It was a beautiful night and U2 did not disappoint.
