Zac Efron Wants to Marry Nicole Kidman: New Clip from The Paperboy

Zac Efron Wants to Marry Nicole Kidman: New Clip from The Paperboy

Here’s a new clip from Lee Daniels’ The Paperboy with Matthew McConaughey, Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron. Part of this clip was included in the montage shown during the opening ceremonies of the Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday.  The clips stars out with Jack James (Zac Efron) daydreaming about Nicole Kidman’s Charlotte as he, his brother Ward  (McConaughey) and Yardley Acheman (David Oyelowo) wait for her in the car.

The Paperboy, which also stars John Cusack as death row inmate Hilary van Wetter, is based on a novel  by Pete Dexter.  You can see the first clip from the film here.

An idealistic reporter for the Miami Times returns to his Florida hometown to investigate a case involving the murder of a local sheriff. He’s eventually helped by his younger brother, Jack (Zac Efron) as they investigate the possible wrongful conviction of a death row inmate (John Cusack). Matthew McConaughey plays Ward James, who teams with another reporter ( David Oyelowo as Yardley). During the course of the investigation, Jack falls for the woman (Kidman) whom the convict has been romancing through prison correspondence.

The Paperboy doesn’t have domestic or UK release dates yet. I’m betting that will change after Cannes. You can see more of the pics we have for The Paperboy here.

Matthew McConaughey is In Charge in First Clip from The Paperboy

Matthew McConaughey is In Charge in First Clip from The Paperboy

There are a lot of films set to bow at the Cannes Film Festival in the next couple of weeks that I am truly looking forward to. One is certainly Lee Daniels’ The Paperboy. Based Pete Dexter’s acclaimed novel, it’s got an eclectic cast that is capable of great things. The question remains whether or not Matthew McConaughey, John Cusack and Nicole Kidman have brought their A games.  Both McConaughey and Kidman have turned in great performances of late (enough so that Kidman gets a pass for Trespass and I can’t wait to see Matty in Killer Joe and Mud – more on that one later) shedding their “movie star” personas and Cusack is always good,  enough to make you wish he got better material to work with (ie: The Raven).

We’ve got your first clip from The Paperboy (thanks to our friends at indieWire) and I think it reaffirms what I just said. The scene is a prison visitors’ room and the clip shows us Matthew McConaughey as Ward James, a journalist out to clear John Cusack’s Hilary van Wetter of the crime for which he’s sitting on death row.  Both actors appear to be in top form.

The clip is brief but since it’s marked #4, I hope that means we’ll be getting more of them in the coming weeks. I’m anxious to hear what those who will see it in Cannes have to say about it.

Friday’s Fabulous Fashionistas Are: Rihanna, Kellan Lutz and More

Friday's Fabulous Fashionistas Are: Rihanna, Kellan Lutz and More

A dress with her name on it!  Better known as one‑half of Marchesa, British fashion designer Georgina Chapman was nothing less than elegant in her own label at the Time's 100 Most Influential People Gala held at the Lincoln Centre in NYC on April 25, 2012.  The dress is a layer of crystals worked into a lace-like pattern, the skirt adorned with a light layer of ostrich feathers, which appears to be from the Marchesa Spring 2012 Collection.  Although I'm surprised that Georgina's name wasn't on this year's Time 100 list, never mind.  She and design partner Keren Craig, who makes up the other half of the Marchesa are in a league of their own!

It was a two-way tie for best-dressed couple also at the Time's 100 Most Influential People Gala.  That honor goes to model/fashion designer Lauren Bush and hubby David Lauren and lawyer Alexi Ashe and beau, actor Seth Myers.  While David Lauren opted for a black double-breasted suit with white shirt and dark tie, his bride Lauren was the vision of a Roman statuesque beauty in a simple yet elegant white sleeveless gown featuring a crossing neckline.  No doubt, both donning the Ralph Lauren label.  Meanwhile, actor Seth Myers also donning a dark suit with matching tie and white shirt was accompanied by girlfriend, lawyer Alexi Ashe who opted for the red version of Romanesque elegance.  Hmm … I wonder.  Did you suppose both couples connected beforehand to synchronize match-happy looks?  Even the background matches.  Now that's what I call effortless co-ordination.

Performing at the 2012 Time's 100 Most Influential People Gala was Rihanna who rocked it in a two‑piece Stella McCartney Fall 2012 jacquard ensemble.  Rihanna shed her bad girl image for a gold metallic baby-doll strapless top accented with a deep red and blue bow and matching blue metallic pants.  This is quite a departure from the black leather and skin-tight outfits we're used to seeing Rihanna in.  It's also nice to see her hair back to its natural black and swept over into gentle waves.  And for all you Rihanna fans, the singer made the magazine's 2012 list, alongside Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Warren Buffet and the Duchess of Cambridge.  Now that's what I call keeping good company!

Proving that he's more than just a handsome vampire, Twilight actor, Kellan Lutz hit the red carpet at the Chanel Tribeca Film Festival Artists Dinner at the Odeon in NYC on April 24, 2012.  The 27-year-old hunk donned, what I'm guessing to be either a Dolce & Gabanna or Gucci two‑piece black suit with matching tie and white shirt.  The two-piece suit looks much better on Kellan than a three piece (top right), don't you think?  And for all you Kellan Lutz fans (and who isn't?), Kellan's latest film, Java Heat is scheduled for release this year.  In the film, Kellan plays a character named Jake who goes to Southeast Asia to fight terrorists.  What could be better than watching a handsome hunk fighting off evil?  Nothing.  See you at the box office!

Friday's Fabulous Fashionistas Are: Rihanna, Kellan Lutz and More

Shining like the star she is, House's Odette Annable lit up the red carpet at the series' finale wrap party in Los Angeles at Cicada on April 20, 2012.  Odette was stunning in a retro gold metallic lace gown by David Meister with bateau neckline and three-quarter length sleeves.  The dress fit her like a glove.  To complete her look, Odette stylized with a gold Reiss 'Kaylin' clutch, simple diamond-drop style earrings and deep brown wavy tresses.  She does resemble The Duchess of Cambridge a bit, don't you think?  And although this may be the end of House, something tells me it definitely won't be the end of the red carpet for Odette!

Hollywood's newest on-screen lovers, Zac Efron and Taylor Schilling heat up the red carpet at the Germany premiere of their film The Lucky One in Berlin on April 25, 2012.  Looking every bit the leading lady, Taylor wore a high-neck black mini with zipper-like detail on the bodice and kept her hair simple and chic along with minimal diamond earrings and ruby red lips.  Although Taylor may have stolen the limelight at the event, nevertheless, Zac equally stepped out in style.  Steering clear of the traditional black, blue, or grey suiting, Zac opted for a maroon two-piece suit by George Clinton with black tie and white shirt.  Zac has come a long way from his young High School Musical days, quickly earning him a spot on the red carpet's best-dressed list.  And with maroon becoming a more popular and challenging colour in men's attire, I believe Zac just climbed a few spots higher on that list!

That's it for another week ladies and gentlemen.  Hope you enjoyed my picks.  Have a wonderful weekend and until next week, wishing you love, peace and happiness!

Wait Til You See What Nicole Kidman is Up To Now – Pics from The Paperboy

Wait Til You See What Nicole Kidman is Up To Now - Pics from The Paperboy

It was literally just yesterday that we the first new word in months on Lee Daniels’ The Paperboy. Hot on the heels of the confirmation that it had made the cut for Cannes, we got three new images from the film, including that one of Nicole Kidman letting out her inner trailer-park vixen (a description pretty well borne out by the pics below). Well, today cats and kittens, thanks to TheFilmstage, we have twenty one more new images, including first looks at John Cusack as Hilary van Wetter, David Oyelowo as Yardley Acheman and Scott Glenn as patriarch of the James clan, W.W.

During the course of the investigation, Jack falls for the woman (Kidman) whom the convict has been romancing through prison correspondence.

Now, John Cusack looks plenty  menacing and a tad nuts, but I have to wonder if anything is being asked of Zac Efron other than he stand around and look cute enough to be Kidman’s toy-boy (which would really be a shame. I hope he was cast because he showed something to Daniels’ that the rest of us have as yet not seen. Sorry not a fan.) Some of the pics below might contain spoilers for anyone who hasn’t read the book, but hopefully your curiosity will have just been piqued and it won’t matter.

Enjoy the pics. More as we get it!

Nicole Kidman Looks Like She Could Eat Zac Efron Alive

Nicole Kidman Looks Like She Could Eat Zac Efron Alive

Whoa…now I know it’s not just me. Nicole Kidman looks like Ann Margaret circa Kitten with a Whip or Viva Las Vegas. If the poster gave off a retro 60’s-70’s vibe (befitting the story) these first images from The Paperboy, of Kidman, Zac Efron and Matthew McConaughey, certainly bear that out.

The Paperboy, another film traveling to the south of France for Cannes next month,  is based on a 1995 sexual thriller by Pete Dexter (“Paris Trout”). Dexter developed the film over the course of ten years with Pedro Almodovar, who is one of the producers. The film is directed by Lee Daniels in his follow-up to 2009’s Precious.

The Paperboy stars Oyelowo, McConaughey, Cusack, Kidman (who is already being mentioned in the same breath as awards contention), Efron and Scott Glenn. Millennium/Nu Image picked it up for distribution before it was even completed during the 2011 Cannes Film Festival. Still no release dates other than Sweden on November 23, but that will undoubtedly change soon.

Zac Efron is The Lucky One at NY Premiere!

Zac Efron is The Lucky One at NY Premiere!

Zac  Efron is working that matinee idol thing HARD in these pics! (Either that or he’s stoned. ) Zac and his costar Taylor Schilling (Mercy) premiered their new movie, The Lucky One in New York last night, April 19 at the Crosby Hotel.

The Lucky One is adapted from a Nicholas Sparks novel and is the story of U.S. Marine Sergeant Logan Thibault {who} returns from his third tour of duty in Iraq, with the one thing he credits with keeping him alive, a photograph he found of a woman he doesn't even know. Discovering her name is Beth and where she lives, he shows up at her door, and ends up taking a job at her family-run local kennel. Despite her initial mistrust and the complications in her life, a romance develops between them, giving Logan hope that Beth could be much more than his good luck charm.

Directed by Scott Hicks (Shine) and with a script by Will Fetters (Remember Me), The Lucky One has a cast that also includes Blythe Danner, Jay R. Ferguson, Adam LeFevre and Riley Thomas Stewart. It opens in theaters in the US today April 20 and in the UK on 2nd May.

Here’s a short featurette comparing The Lucky One to other Sparks romances:

Zac Efron Goes to the Dogs in The Lucky One

Zac Efron Goes to the Dogs in The Lucky One

Weird. I really was just wondering when we were going to hear something more about The Lucky One, an adaptation of  Nicholas Sparks’ 2008 novel, considering it comes out next month here in the US and it’s been more than three months since the first and only trailer. Well, once again showing signs of that precognition that my mother always knew I possessed, we have some new images to share.

Directed by Scott Hicks (Shine), The Lucky One is the story of Marine Sergeant Logan Thibault (Efron) who, while fighting in Iraq, finds a photograph of a woman whom he credits for keeping him alive, believing her picture was his good luck charm. Upon his return to the states, he travels to North Carolina in search of the unknown woman, eventually taking a job at her family-run kennel and keeping the photograph a secret. (Of course) romance begins to blossom.

I’ve not seen any of Zac Efron’s work, but that will probably change this year. If it’s not The Lucky One, it will probably be Liberal Arts (because I’m a Josh Radnor fan) or The Paper Boy (because I’m a Lee Daniels/Pete Dexter/John Cusack fan). In any case, Efron looks to be about to break out of his teen king persona.

Efron costars with Taylor Schilling (Mercy, The Silver Linings Playbook) and Blythe Danner. The Lucky One opens in the US on April 20 and in the UK 4th May.

Zac Efron Drops Condom on Red Carpet VIDEO

Zac Efron Drops Condom on Red Carpet VIDEO

Talk about a very awkward moment! Zac Efron was at The Lorax premiere in Los Angeles when he went to shake hands with someone and a condom came out of his front pocket. He immediately put his sunglasses on, his face went red and then he laughed. I think it’s hysterical! For the girls imagine if a tampon came flying out of your pocket?

Well it looks like Zac was hoping to get him some. It’s nice to see he’s all about practicing safe sex!
