Official Synopsis for The Amazing Spider-Man + New Pics!

Official Synopsis for The Amazing Spider-Man + New Pics!

Another reason to look forward to summer this year, Spider Man will be back on the big screen. Columbia Pictures has finally released the official synopsis for Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man:

"The Amazing Spider-Man" is the story of Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Martin Sheen) and Aunt May (Sally Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance – leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors Rhys Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.”

The new film stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, Martin Sheen and Sally Field. Directed by Webb from a screenplay written by James Vanderbilt, The Amazing Spider-Man is based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. It opens in theaters everywhere in 3D on July 3.  We have a couple of new pics, including a couple character details, courtesy of Movieweb.

Lots of Amazing New Images from The Amazing Spider-Man!

Lots of Amazing New Images from The Amazing Spider-Man!

Sony/Columbia has released some new hi-res stills from The Amazing Spider-Man. Some of them you may have already seen since we brought the versions with copy from EW or Empire. These are crisp and clean. We also have some new posters and concept art.  I have to say, Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, despite the fact that both are in their mid to late twenties  (she’s 23, he’s 28), look convincing as high schoolers.

This version of Spiderman, directed by Marc Webb, goes back to the web slinger’s angsty teenage roots:

“Like most teenagers his age, Peter (Garfield) is trying to figure out who he is and how to be the person he is today. In his journey to put the pieces of his past together he uncovers a secret that his father (Campbell Scott) held… a secret that will ultimately shape his destiny as Spider-Man. This is the first in a series of movies that tells a different side of the Peter Parker story.”

The Amazing Spider-Man stars Garfield, Stone, Rhys Ifans (as Dr. Curt Connors in the first film in which the character becomes The Lizard), Denis Leary, Irrfan Khan, Annie Parisse, C. Thomas Howell, Embeth Davidtz, Martin Sheen and Sally Field. The screenplay is by James Vanderbilt and Alvin Sargent and Steve Kloves, based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. It’s scheduled for release on July 3rd in the US, 4th July in the UK, in 3D, of course.

Watch an International Trailer for Ice Age: Continental Drift

Watch an International Trailer for Ice Age: Continental Drift

How cute does this look?? This is the international trailer for the fourth installment of the Ice Age franchise, Ice Age Continental Drift. It plays more like a clip featuring Scrat but it’s adorable nonetheless. These films have only played on the periphery of my radar but everytime I see a trailer it makes me think I should see the movie. I’m a sucker for (good) animation.

Synopsis: Scrat’s nutty pursuit of the cursed acorn, which he’s been after since the dawn of time, has world-changing consequences – a continental cataclysm that triggers the greatest adventure of all for Manny, Diego and Sid. In the wake of these upheavals, Sid reunites with his cantankerous Granny, and the herd encounters a ragtag menagerie of seafaring pirates determined to stop them from returning home.

Ice Age: Continental Drift features the voices of Ray Romano as Manny, John Leguizamo as Sid, Denis Leary as Diego, Seann William Scott as Crash, Josh Peck as Eddie, Queen Latifah as Ellie, and new voices Jennifer Lopez, Wanda Sykes, Aziz Ansari, Keke Palmer, Drake, Josh Gad, Alan Tudyk, Nick Frost and Joy Behar. It opens 6th July in the UK and July 13 in the US and Canada.

Jenny McCarthy Won’t Kick Denis Leary’s (Stupid) Ass Afterall

Jenny McCarthy calls Denis Leary “obviously stupid” with regards to his take on autism as described in his book Why We Suck: A Feel-Good Guide to Staying Fat, Loud, Lazy and Stupid.  That really is the best answer isn’t it??

She elaborates to Access Hollywood:

“Whoo! First of all, let me tell you, the autism community has received probably 10,000 emails (saying) ‘Go kill him! Go yell at him!’”
“(But) it’s so hard to even get up enough juice in me or energy in me to even try to fight someone that is obviously stupid.”

Perfect answer!!!

Leary has said the statement was taken out of context.   The unfortunate part of all this is his book is getting mega press for this.

Denis Leary Defends His Autism Remarks In His Book

Denis Leary has defended his book’s section Autism Schmautism by saying that the press has taken it out of context:

“…If they have (read the book), they missed the sections I thought made my feelings about autism very clear: that I not only support the current rational approaches to the diagnoses and treatment of real autism but have witnessed it firsthand while watching very dear old friends raise a functioning autistic child.”

Maybe Jenny McCarthy won’t kick his ass afterall??
