For $100,000 I Could Have Had a Date With Gerard Butler!

For $100,000 I Could Have Had a Date With Gerard Butler!

That title works best if you think of it being whined at a high volume like Sally as she sits in the pumpkin patch after discovering she's missed out on "tricks or treats".

Haitian Carnival Raised $1Million dollars last night for Paul Haggis’ Artists for Peace & Justice, Sean Penn’s H/P  and Petra Nemcova’s HelpingHands.org, at an elegant, fun dinner packed with A list names.

In palatial tent behind the Palais du Festival, Gerard Butler, Jessica Chastain, Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, Joshua Jackson and Diane Kruger, Ezra Miller, Tom Hardy (excuse me? Where are THOSE pics?), Harvey Weinstein, Ewan McGregor, David Schwimmer, Sean Combs and a lot of very rich people were on hand for the Armani sponsored soiree.

Forbes called the bash a “much cooler affair than most Cannes fundraisers, with a hilarious auction.” At one point, a package of tickets to the Golden Globes and various parties was “only” up to $70,00. So once again Haggis threw Gerard Butler into the pot as a “sweetener”, brought him to the podium, and offered a date with him. Finally a man, Patrice Otsepe of African Rainbow Minerals, offered $100,000 “without Gerry Butler.” He won and G was reportedly thrilled not to have go on a date with a stranger. *coughyeahrightlikethatNEVERhappenscough*

As promised, here are the pics I found of the carnival that is Gerard Butler attending the Haitian Carnival in Cannes! Enjoy!

Gerard Butler is in Cannes! NOW the Party Can Start!

Gerard Butler is in Cannes! NOW the Party Can Start!

I knew it! I knew he wouldn’t let me (or Artists for Peace and Justice or the people of Haiti) down. I don’t mean to be glib, Gerard Butler is in Cannes just in time for an event benefiting three different charitable organizations all geared toward continuing to improve the lives of the small Caribbean nation still struggling with the aftermath of the devastating earthquake in January 2010. It's a wonderful cause and I'm so glad that they are able to use this time/place, where so many of the world's rich and famous are gathered it's like Robin Leach's wet dream, to do some good. (But FMGWACS – if you've seen Heathers you know what that means – does that man look good in a tux or WHAT?!)

Artists for Peace and Justice, on whose board G sits, has been a presence in Cannes for the past two years, but this year they’ve teamed with Sean Penn’s J/P HRO and (his current squeeze) Petra Nemcova’s Happy Hearts Fund for an event presented by Armani called “Haiti Carnival in Cannes”

Also pictured along with Butler, APJ Founder, director Paul Haggis, Petra Nemcova of J/P HRO, Giorgio Armani, actor and Haitian activist Jimmy Jean-Louis (who starred in Game of Their Lives with Butler), Cannes juror Ewan McGregor, Lyle Lovett, Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, Joshua Jackson, Cannes juror Diane Kruger, actor activist Sean Penn (not sure if that was before or after his meltdown where he accused the world of abandoning Haiti. Things look a little testy between Penn and Ewan McGregor) and former Sen. Chris Dodd.

Anyone else feel like Samba-ing? (Do they Samba in Haiti?) By the way, I was only able to find THREE pics of G. If I find more, I'm posting them!

Hey Look! It’s Gerard Butler’s Mug Six Feet Tall!

Hey Look! It's Gerard Butler's Mug Six Feet Tall!

Alex Billington from FirstShowing is in Cannes right now and took some photos of some of the banners advertising coming attractions and films for “sale” at the film market. He got some great shots of promo banners for films like Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained, One Shot (Christopher McQuarrie's Jack Reacher movie with Tom Cruise), Brian DePalma’s Passion with Rachel McAdams and Noomi Rapace as well as a little movie called White House Taken starring one Gerard Butler.

While it’s exciting to see his face on a film poster (that isn’t the photoshopped mess of Playing the Field), this one is definitely some sort of photoshop composite since Butler hasn’t been that clean shaven in over two years. (He looks a little like Sean Connery.)  All of that aside, it is exciting that the filmmakers are shopping the movie. White House Taken, the new title for the film formerly known as Olympus Has Fallen is set to roll before the cameras next month down in Louisiana with Antoine Fuqua at the helm. Up til now that’s only been an assumption. Since his name is on the banner, I’m thinking he’s signed on the dotted line. (It’s been since last December that Butler was anywhere near a film set and frankly, I’m getting a tad antsy.)

There’s a lot of speculation on the new title, White House Taken and the fact that Roland Emmerich is getting ready to make a movie called White House Down with Channing Tatum. Setting aside the fact that Olympus Has Fallen is just more interesting in general, in my opinion, the move was done to force the latter film to change its title since the two have similar scenarios but Antoine Fuqua’s film should be out of the gate first. Just a theory.  More as this develops. In the meantime feast your eyes on the banner hanging down on the Croisette.

The Best Pic You’ll See All Day: Butler & Brody at the Met Gala

The Best Pic You'll See All Day: Butler & Brody at the Met Gala

It’s usually just referred to as “the Met Gala”, but the event is actually the annual Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and every May all glitterati from several continents gather in New York City on yet another occasion to put on pretty clothes and laugh and dance and drink champagne and congratulate themselves on being part of this elite crowd. (Will someone please tell me why the cast of Glee keeps showing up at these things?)

Anyway, I am thankful for this event for one reason and one reason only. That pic above. I did not dare hope that Gerard Butler would be at this thing last night, after all he was just in New York a couple of weeks ago. (The paps are getting complacent. All of this transcontinental flying and NO airport pics?). Bacchus smiled upon me though and G did indeed don a tux to attend the big soiree. *cue Hallelujah Chorus*  And as an added bonus,  his bud Adrien Brody was there too and Vogue got a pic. (Butler was in Alexander McQueen, Brody was in Prada. The theme of this year’s event was the opening of the exhibition “Schiaparelli and Prada: Improbable Conversations”. Say whatever else you want to about Brody, the man looks CLASSIC in a tux.)

I have included a few other hot men as well, like Hugh Dancy, John Krasinski, Tom Brady etc etc. If said men had a stick bug on their arm she was cropped out, because that’s how I roll and men deserve equal time. (I don’t know WHAT category Marc Jacobs belongs in.) Enjoy the pics!

Gerard Butler Will No Longer Hunt Nor Kill for Relativity

Gerard Butler Will No Longer Hunt Nor Kill for Relativity

This is Gerard Butler’s face as he listens to Relativity screw him over yet again.

File this under: I knew it!

It’s already May and not only has not one frame been filmed of the thriller that Antoine Fuqua was supposed to be directing next, Hunter Killer with Gerard Butler as submarine captain Joe Glass and “possibly” Sam Worthington, but now Relativity has wiped it off of its slate altogether.

The film had a release date of December 21, 2012 confirmed, but as I said it hasn’t rolled and it is not on Butler’s supposedly set schedule of his next three films. ANOTHER Antoine Fuqua project supposedly is.  Butler and Fuqua are reportedly making Olympus Has Fallen together, set to go before the cameras next month down in Louisiana. (Butler gets to revisit the scene of last spring’s “crimes” in Shreveport where Millennium Entertainment is based and Playing the Field was made as well. I’m sure the heartbroken belles are organizing a lynch mob) In that film, Butler would play a former Secret Service agent who works to prevent a terrorist attack on the White House.

First Official Look at Gerard Butler in Of Men and Mavericks!

First Official Look at Gerard Butler in Of Men and Mavericks!

Fox has released the first official still for Of Men and Mavericks, the film about the life of extraordinary young surfer Jay Moriarty who made a name for himself at 16 when he surfed the breakneck section of California coast called Mavericks.  You may remember we brought you quite a few pics from the set during filming last fall. C’mon! You remember…Gerard Butler in a wetsuit!

Jonny Weston plays Moriarty and Butler plays his mentor Frosty Hesson. (You may also remember that G nearly drowned when he was knocked off his board by a monster wave and held under for two more, back in December.)

That wasn’t the only crisis to befall the film, Academy Award nominated director Curtis Hanson was felled by health problems and had to be replaced by Michael Apted for the final weeks of filming. Hanson is said to be on the road to recovery but no word as to whether he’s resumed control of the film in the post-production phase.

Centers on the late Jay Moriarity and his quest to ride the iconic Northern California break known as Mavericks, where winter swells bring in treacherous waves the size of five-story buildings.

Moriarity trained for more than a year under mentor Frosty Hesson, and in the process the two forged a unique relationship that ultimately transformed both their lives. Moriarity's story remains an inspiration to surfers around the globe, who've coined the phrase, "Live like Jay."

Of Men and Mavericks also stars Elisabeth Shue, Leven Rambin, Abigail Spencer, Taylor Handley and Scott Eastwood. It’s due to open in the US October 26 and 2nd November in the UK.

Watch the First Trailer for Movie 43 – You Know You Want To

Movie 43 Pushed Back (AGAIN) - At This Point Why Bother?

Here’s a little eye-opener for your Tuesday. (You’ll notice that I didn’t say “fun”).  A first trailer for Movie 43 has come online. You remember Movie 43. It’s that one with the really bad title made by one half of the Farrelly brothers that features just about every actor known for anything currently working in a series of “comedic” vignettes all with a different director. It’s also the movie that’s been in the can for nearly two years already, whose release keeps getting pushed back. At this point it’s scheduled for January 25, 2013.  (By the way, if you plug Movie 43 into imdb you won’t find it. It’s listed on the actors’ CVs as Untitled Farrelly/Wessler Project.)

I can’t tell if this trailer was leaked or it purposefully looks unfinished. Since Relativity hasn’t yanked it yet, I’m thinking it was leaked on purpose.

There is a pretty sizable element of curiosity at work here. What the hell are all of these people doing in this movie? Is it for some sort of warped idea of “cred” with the kiddies? Granted, some of the participants already have that market sown up, like Emma Stone, Anna Faris and Chris Pratt. I can only imagine that on paper it looked like fun. “Let’s do something completely off the wall and out of character! We can say things that would normally be offensive, but since it's us, people will laugh!” The results, unfortunately, look at first blush, just as bad as I’d feared.  (As I said you don’t hold on to a comedy with this cast unless it’s really really bad.)

You know I’m gonna see it though. Gerard Butler as a foul mouthed leprechaun who gets to head-butt Seann William Scott? Pffffft…I’m there.

Gerard Butler Set for a Manhunt! insert joke about your own quest here

Gerard Butler Set for a Manhunt! insert joke about your own quest here

Giving me yet another reason to post some pics of the lovely and talented Gerard Butler, Deadline is reporting that my future ex-husband is currently in negotiations for yet another role. I must remember that not only is it physically impossible for him to make every movie that his name is attached to, “Attached” and “in negotiations” do not mean that he will definitely take the role or that the movie will even get off the ground.

In any case, the new film is called Manhunt and Breck Eisner (The Crazies) is already set to direct with the production slated to begin by the end of this year.

The plot involves a team of FBI agents sent to the North Carolina wilderness to chase the FBI’s most wanted man, domestic terrorist and survivalist James Tollan, who has eluded arrest with the support of the local population while attacking the federal government. They enroll the help of a reluctant bear hunter to capture the killer. But once the team enters the woods, the hunters become the hunted as Tollan will stop at nothing to survive and defend his territory. Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby wrote the script. Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher are producing with Alexander Milchan’s EMJAG Films, Danny DeVito and Jersey Films and Scott Lambert of Management 360′s producing arm FILM 360. Alan Siegel, Alexandra Milchan and Scott Lambert will executive produce. IM Global is fully financing the film.

The fact that G’s manager and producing partner Alan Siegel is already aboard makes me think this one may actually happen. We’ll see. In the meantime, enjoy some pics of our boy in the wilds of Indio this past weekend. Happy Hump Day!
