Friday Fabulous Fashionistas Are: Jennifer Aniston, Rooney Mara and More

There are little black dresses and then there are LITTLE black dresses. To see for yourself, just check out Jennifer Aniston when she arrived at the 64th Annual Directors Guild Of America Awards at the Grand Ballroom in Hollywood on January 28. Jennifer brought sexy to a new level on the red carpet that night in this short and stunning black strapless sequined number by Dolce & Gabbana. Jen doesn't have to put much effort into working it as it comes quite natural to her. In fact, she may have even coined a new term that night: the where's the nearest defibrillator look. Keep working it girl!

There are kings and queens and then there is Dame Helen Mirren. The First Lady of the silver screen reigned supreme on the red carpet at the 64th Annual Directors Guild Of America Awards on January 28 in this gold majestic creation by Badgley Mischka with sequin embellished draped sleeves. What I like most about this dress and especially about Helen Mirren is the fact that she also wore it to the 2011 Golden Globe Awards (upper right). And while there are those who may criticize her for doing that, I say more power to her for making that choice. In fact, Catherine, The Duchess of Cambridge is also known for wearing the same outfit on more than one occasion. Besides, who can blame anyone for wanting to wear a gown as beautiful as this more than once? Nobody!

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the fairest SAG red carpet diva of them all? Access Hollywood's Shaun Robinson is as she took time off from her correspondent duties to turn heads (and probably sprain a few necks) when she strutted her stuff at this year's 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards in this stunning draped fuchsia Jack Guisso gown and Alexis Bittar accessories. I love how this strapless gown with a slightly flared skirt lends itself to a modern twist of a classic mermaid silhouette. Don't you? Delicate bows accent the bodice and drop waist, while a delicate flowing train completes this romantic look.

No smoke and mirrors here as actress Katherine Heigl is the real deal in this gorgeous smoky gray evening gown by Maria Lucia Hohan when she attended the Paris premiere of her latest film One For The Money on January 31. Katherine looked radiant in the gown which featured a front bodice of detailed asymmetrical tightly interwoven chiffon and a daring and sexy low-cut back. The feather-like weight of the skirt affords the dress its long train that flows along effortlessly. Catherine accessorized her look with Rene Caovilla shoes, Judith Leiber clutch, and beautiful dove-grey Sutra drop-style earrings to create an overall old Hollywood look that most starlets should be dreaming of!

Looking every part a fashionista is Jordin Sparks on her way to report for co-hosting duties on NBC's Today Show in New York City on January 30. The singer/actress looked stylish and sophisticated in her tweed jacket with contrasting black leather arms and trim. Just peeking from below the jacket, her fuchsia dress added just the right pop of colour. And if I'm not mistaken, accessorizing her look with a matching book that even Carrie Bradshaw would approve of! Now that's panache.
Did you know that Jordin teamed up with Wet Seal to create her own line of clothing, named, Sparks? The line which launched in November 2008 features sizes from XS to XL. Check it out at www.wetseal.com.

And completing this week's line-up of fashionistas, is actress Rooney Mara when she walked the red carpet at the premiere of her film, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo at the Tokyo International Forum on January 30, which, if I didn't know better, looks more like the catwalk. Rooney captured everyone's attention in this white halter Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci dress. One of the most uniquely, yet interesting looks by Givenchy, it captures the essence of a demure spirit contrasted with dramatic structured ruffles that dominate the haute couture look of the dress. And somehow, it works! Rooney has proven to have one of the most fashion-forward styles in Hollywood, rivaled only by few such as Tilda Swinton. Can you imagine those two on the catwalk?
That's it for another week fashion lovers. Thanks for dropping by. Until next week, love and peace to you all!
