Last night the 19th Annual Elton John Aids Foundation Viewing Party took place at the Pacific Design Centre in West Hollywood where celebrities gathered to celebrate the 83rd Annual Academy Awards.
This party is not only as coveted as the Vanity Fair one, and one of the best parties, it also benefits Elton John’s Aids Foundation.
Finally Lance Bass‘ campaign with PeTA is out! He’s part of the Adopt Don’t Buy campaign and poses with his lucky canine rescue kids Dingo and Foster.
According to PeTA: Every year, 6 to 8 million dogs and cats enter animal shelters—and half of them must be euthanized because there aren’t enough homes for them.
Those statistics are staggering! Why people undermine the commitment it takes to have a dog baffles me to no end. Kids don’t come trained, and neither do dogs. It seems as soon as a pet loses it’s ‘cuteness’ or becomes a burden people get rid of the animal.
Rant over. Not really, but for now it is.
Okay I have another rant: the picture is WAY to small of Lance AND he has clothes on. Mind you it would be kind of creepy if he was naked with two dogs. Never mind.
Have you ever rescued a pet from a shelter? Share your stories! I would love to hear it. A couple of months ago we did for the first time and when they say it’s rewarding, they aren’t kidding! It was the best decision!!
As part of this campaign PetGuard is giving away 16 cases of Organic Vegan Canned Dog Food (12.7 ounces), one 16-pound, 4-ounce bulk pail of Mr. Barky’s Dog Biscuits, one 16-pound, 4-ounce bulk pail of Mr. Pugsly’s Dog Biscuits, one gallon of PetGuard Shampoo & Conditioner, and one bottle of PetGuard Yeast & Garlic Wafers (320 count), all of which add up to approximately six months’ worth of canned dog food, treats, and supplements.
To enter this draw head on over to PeTA to complete the form. I’m pretty sure by doing that you will get their regular newsletter so keep that in mind if you aren’t into that.
Jason Ritter and Olivia Munn hosted the event that saw the likes of Avatar, and 30 Rock win awards. When doesn’t 30 Rock win awards? Even at an environmental awards’ show they take home a trophy.
Jane Fonda presented her ex-husband Ted Turner with an honorary award for his environmental contributions while Natalie Portman presented Jeff Skoll with his honorary award at last night’s 20th Awards gala and featured
With the recent tragic suicides of 5 gay teens (in one week), Larry King’s show last night focused on this issue and had on his panel Wanda Sykes, Kathy Griffin, Tim Gunn, Lance Bass and Nate Berkus to discuss their own issues with being gay. Kathy is not gay (to my knowledge not that it matters if she is or isn’t) but she is a huge gay activist.
Lance Bass admitted to bullying gays in high school because he was trying to hide his own sexuality. I was surprised by that but easy for me to say having not experienced what he has experienced in life.
Gay teens are four times higher to commit suicide than other teens. This is beyond tragic and needs to stop. The hatred to someone who is of a different sexual orientation as what is considered the ‘norm’ is no different than racial hatred. Tim Gunn himself tried to commit suicide when he was 17 years old.
People dismiss bullying as being ‘typical’ of teenage behaviour but I disagree. I realize that teenagers feel the need to ‘fit in’ to their peer groups but bullying needs to stop for whatever reason a person is being bullied. Parents need to step it up and lead by example and society as a whole needs to take this issue much more seriously. Hatred is hatred.

Even though Venus Williams hosted the launch of New Tide Plus Febreze Freshness Sport at at The Recreation Dec in Miami, it is Lance Bass’ picture that must be the main one.
No offence to Venus, it’s just that I have some hard-core Lance Bass fans that would be very upset with me if he weren’t front and centre and given I have to deal with them everyday, I have to do what I have to do. Plus I owe them. Kind of. he he he.
Given that Edge of Darkness stars Mel Gibson it would have made more sense to put his puss as the main picture, but for some reason he bothers my pasty white ass so the much prettier Lance Bass gets top billing.
Even Mel admits he bothers me (although I’m much too young for it to be for 30 years):
“It’s 30 years ago that I lost my own personal anonymity,” “And it’s 30 years ago that the public humiliation began. And sometimes it reaches a global level. And what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. And I’m telling you right now, I’m one strong motherf**ker because I’m right back at you”
He had a hand in that. Think drunk. Think anti-semitic remarks. Think sugar t*ts. You get the picture?
