2012 Coachella Celebrity Sightings Week 2, Day 3 PHOTOS

2012 Coachella Celebrity Sightings Week 2, Day 3 PHOTOS

The 2012 Coachella Music Festival wrapped up for another year yesterday after spreading the music over two weekends. Yesterday we had photos of Kristen Stewart and today we have them of her boyfriend Robert Pattinson but unfortunately not together.

There were a couple of other vampires enjoying the music yesterday: True Blood's Alexander Skarsgard and former Twilight vampire Rachelle Lefevre.

Zoe Kravitz and boyfriend Penn Badgley also made the scene as did the always lovely Dita Von Teese.

And that's it for another year! Enjoy the photos.

Lots of Familiar Names in the 65th Cannes Film Festival Lineup!

Lots of Familiar Names in the 65th Cannes Film Festival Lineup!

The lineup for the 65th Cannes Film Festival has been announced and since most of us won’t be going to the Croisette to attend, here’s why you should care.  Last year’s festival, with film’s like Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris, Terence Malick’s Tree of Life (which won Cannes’ highest honor, the Palme d’Or) and Lars von Trier’s Melancholia all making their debuts, changed the game when a little film called The Artist rode a wave that started in the south of France in May 2011 and didn’t crest until it hit the Oscars in February 2012.  (Midnight in Paris and Tree of Life also got Best Picture nods.) Chances are you'll be hearing a lot about a lot of these films.

There are some big movies in competition and out that will be screening and they have big names attached to them.  As expected, David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis with Robert Pattinson (new pics below),  Andrew Dominik's Killing Them Softly (aka Cogan’s Trade) with Brad Pitt, Walter Salles’ On the Road with Kristen Stewart (Robsten on the red carpet!)and Sam Riley and Lee Daniels' Paperboy with Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman are among the films selected for the Festival, which opens on May 16.

This year the lineup is unusually English-language heavy. (Even the poster is of an American film icon, commemorating the 50th anniversary of Marilyn Monroe’s death.)  Jeff Nichols, director of Take Shelter is back with Mud starring Matthew McConaughey,  John Hillcoat’s Lawless with Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman and Guy Pearce (among others) made the cut as well. (To mark the occasion we've shared a new pic from the film. That's the Bondurant brothers at the top of the post: Jason Clarke, Tom Hardy and Shia LaBeouf)

These films are good news for stargazers of course. In addition to the actors mentioned above, you can expect Eva Mendes in support of Holly Motors, Kirsten Dunst for On the Road, McConaughey actually has two films since he’s also in Paperboy.

What we won’t see are two films thought to be a lock but weren’t finished in time: Paul Thomas Anderson's The Master and Terrence Malick's The Burial.

Festival organizers announced 54 of this year's selections this morning but more titles will be added next week. The selections were made from 1,779 submissions.

Out-of-competition films include DreamWorks Animation's Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted and Philip Kaufman's Hemingway and Gellhorn for HBO with Clive Owen and Nicole Kidman (another double-dipper).

As we’ve previously told you, another American film, Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom will open the festival.  The closing film will be the late Claude Miller's final film, Therese Desqueyroux. The festival will also screen a new version of Sergio Leone's epic Once Upon a Time in America,  with 40 minutes of previously unseen footage (bringing the total running time to 269 minutes).

Cannes will open on May 16, and run through May 27.

Another Super Mega Posters Post incl Twilight: Breaking Dawn – part 2!

Another Super Mega Posters Post incl Twilight: Breaking Dawn - part 2!

It’s time for another posters post! Woo hoo! *demented poodle dance*  I kid.  Seriously, the new posters are stackin’ up around here like cordwood.

Another Super Mega Posters Post incl Twilight: Breaking Dawn - part 2!

Let’s start with two posters for The Amazing Spider-Man. Once again, nothing for weeks and now we’ve had new clips and pics and today we have not one but two shiny new posters. Personally I’m partial to the one with Spidey clinging to the side of a building. The other one, for all of its color and shine, is kind of bland.

“Like most teenagers his age, Peter (Andrew Garfield) is trying to figure out who he is and how to be the person he is today. In his journey to put the pieces of his past together he uncovers a secret that his father (Campbell Scott) held… a secret that will ultimately shape his destiny asSpider-Man. This is the first in a series of movies that tells a different side of the Peter Parker story.”

The Amazing Spider-Man stars Garfield, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Irrfan Khan, Annie Parisse, C. Thomas Howell and Embeth Davidtz. The screenplay is by James Vanderbilt and Alvin Sargent and Steve Kloves, based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. It’s scheduled for release on July 3rd in the US, 4th July in the UK, in 3D, of course.

Next up we have a new poster for indie romance Take This Waltz with Seth Rogan, Michelle Williams, and Luke Kirby as the three sides to a love triangle. It’s been playing festivals since TIFF and will finally get a release in the US in June

Take This Waltz, has been described as a funny, bittersweet and heart-wrenching story about a woman struggling to choose between two different types of love within a surreal, fairy tale-like love triangle.

The supporting cast includes Sarah Silverman as Rogan’s recovering alcoholic sister and Aaron Abrams as well as the city of Toronto, director Sarah Polley’s hometown, which she has painted with a light and airy brush full of color. Take This Waltz will get a limited release in the US starting June 29.

I am really looking forward to Neil Jordan’s return to the world of vampires in Byzantium. We’ve had some set pics of Gemma Arterton and Saoirse Ronan,  as well as one lonely official image. I’m thrilled to share the first poster today!

The synopsis:

Eleanor and Clara, two mysterious and penniless young women, flee the scene of a violent crime and arrive in a run-down coastal resort. They try to find money and refuge along the tawdry seafront and in the dilapidated hotels.

Clara, ever-practical, sells her body. She soon meets shy and lonely Noel, who provides a roof over their heads in his seedy guesthouse, Byzantium. Clara, always looking towards the future, turns it into a ‘pop-up’ brothel.

Meanwhile Eleanor, the eternal schoolgirl, meets Frank, a kindred spirit who unwittingly prompts her to tell the truth about her life. She tells him that Clara is her mother; yet Clara is only a few years older. She says that she was born in 1804; yet she is just sixteen. She confesses that she must drink human blood to stay alive – and so must her mother. In the small, quiet town, people start to die.

And the past that the girls have been running from for so long, finally catches up with them – with astonishing consequences.

Arterton and Ronan are joined by Caleb Landry Jones as Frank, as well as Jonny Lee Miller, Sam Riley, Daniel Mays and Tom Hollander. Byzantium is currently in post-production but still no exact release dates.

Another Super Mega Posters Post incl Twilight: Breaking Dawn - part 2!

Okay kiddies, this is probably one you’ve been waiting for…the big Kahuna of today’s posters is the first official from Twilight: Breaking Dawn – part 2.  I have to say, I’m a big disappointed. It’s your first real look at the family Cullen and it’s basically a bland photoshopped bunch of “meh”.  Not having read thebooks, I wonder how half-human/half-vamp Renesmee is going to handle Mummy going the total vamp route?

After the birth of Renesmee, the Cullens gather other vampire clans in order to protect the child from a false allegation that puts the family in front of the Volturi

Twilight: Breaking Dawn – part 2 opens November 16 in the US, Canada and the UK.

Robert Pattinson Does Not Wish to Be a Pig Farmer: Clip from Bel Ami

Lush New Robert Pattinson Images from Bel Ami!

If you’re one of those that swoons at all things Pattinson, hang on to your knickers. We have a new clip which features your boy in and out of bed, in just some Edwardian boxers and sans shirt, and you know he’s both post and pre-freak with Christina Ricci.

Bel Ami is based on a short story by Guy de Maupassant and tells the story of Georges Duroy (Pattinson), a penniless veteran of the Boer Wars. A period drama set in 1890s Paris, the film follows his fin de sicle rise to power through his manipulation of the most influential and wealthy women in Paris, played by Thurman, Christina Ricci, and Kristin Scott Thomas.

We learn quite a bit from this clip. In it, Georges is reading a letter from his father in the country. We learn that his father cares for his son, even as the son has contempt for the father and his way of life. We also know that when he tells Christina Ricci that she’s the only woman for him, he’s lying his face off.

The film was directed by Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod from a screenplay written by Rachel Bennette.  It has  a great supporting cast, including Colm Meaney, Holliday Grainger and Philip Glenister, not to mention stunning, meticulously detailed costumes and sets . Already open in the most of the world, Bel Ami opens in the US on June 8.

Bon Samedi! Les Nouvelles Photos Poster et un Clip pour Bel Ami avec Robert Pattinson!

Bon Samedi! Les Nouvelles Photos Poster et un Clip pour Bel Ami avec Robert Pattinson!

Happy Saturday! Had your coffee yet? These might get you going, especially if you’re one of those that swoons at all things Pattinson. We have a new (German) poster, which is pretty much a variation on the other posters we’ve seen, but it certainly does highlight RPattz. We also have a trove of new pics from Bel Ami as well as a clip in which Uma Thurman is working her feminine wiles on your boy.  (May I say, Uma Thurman looks fantastic in what I’ve seen of this film.)

It does have a great supporting cast, including Colm Meaney, Holliday Grainger and Philip Glenister, not to mention sumptuous costumes and sets. I’ll probably give this one a go. The “look” of it might lose something in the translation if I wait for the small screen. It opens in the US on June 8.

Edward Cullen est Le Toast de Paris Dans Bel Ami

Edward Cullen est Le Toast de Paris Dans Bel Ami

We have a new poster and a new trailer for Bel Ami with Edward Cull…I mean Robert Pattinson. The poster looks a lot like the UK version notable mostly for its exceeding blandness. How DO you make Robert Pattinson and a bevy of beautiful women look bland. It probably takes a lot of effort.) Luckily, we also have a domestic trailer. The trailer also looks a lot like the UK version, but that’s okay. This should be a sign that the film is finally going to hit these shores.

Directed by Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod with the screenplay written by Rachel Bennette, Bel Ami is a period drama set in 1890s Paris. Pattinson is Georges Duroy, a penniless ex-soldier. The film follows his fin de sicle rise to power through his manipulation of the most influential and wealthy women in Paris, played by Uma Thurman, Christina Ricci, and Kristin Scott Thomas.

Robert Pattinson and beautiful women in and out of period costumes set amid lavish sets and Parisian backdrops. I’m assuming there will be a lot of “R- rated” sexual situations.

Christina Ricci, who plays Clotilde de Marelle, recently told the UK’s Daily Mirror, "You get to see a lot of Rob in the movie. Twi-hards? Is that what they’re called? Yeah they will be happy; he’s naked most of the time." Again, why is this fact not being shouted from the rooftops? Do they want to sell tickets to this thing or not?

Bel Ami has already premiered in Europe to mixed reviews. It seems a better test of Pattinson’s ability to step out from Edward Cullen’s shadow is still to come, David Cronenberg’s CosmopolisBel Ami does have a great supporting cast, including Colm Meaney, Holliday Grainger and Philip Glenister, not to mention those costumes and sets so I’ll probably give this one a go. It opens in the US on June 8.

New posters for Hick, Ted, Cosmopolis and Upside Down!

New posters for Hick, Ted, Cosmopolis and Upside Down!

Here’s a first poster for a film we haven’t heard a peep about since TIFF last September (where it received mixed reviews). Hick, directed by Derek Martini , stars Blake Lively, Chloe Grace Moretz and Eddie Redmayne. Two of those names have gotten a lot of ink lately for their acting (and not publicly canoodling with Ryan Reynolds). Redmayne was of course in Oscar nominated My Week with Marilyn and Moretz is just everywhere. The latest is that she has been offered the lead in yet another remake of Stephen King’s Carrie. (Note to CGM: Please don’t do it!) While some may see this as a good move because an appearance in a King based film has done so much for others careers in the past (Spacek, Bates, Freeman etc etc) –this is a remake of a classic, something that was tried to disasterous effect ten years ago.)

“When 13-year-old Luli gets fed up with her mother’s love of high drama and men who drink too much, she leaves Nebraska and takes to the road, going west to follow her dreams of stardom. Along the way she meets Eddie, a drifter with an attitude, and a troubled woman named Glenda. With the help of these new friends and the strength of her dreams, Luli protects herself from the unpredictable people she meets in her new life.”

Hick will get a limited US theatrical release on May 11 and hit VOD the same day.

New posters for Hick, Ted, Cosmopolis and Upside Down!

Ted is the feature film directorial debut from Family Guy mastermind Seth McFarlane. It stars Mark Wahlberg as a man whose childhood teddy bear comes to life. It  also stars Mila Kunis and was filmed here in Boston last summer. That poster makes it look like some high-brow stuff, huh?

A story centered on a man and his teddy bear, who comes to life as the result of a childhood wish.

Director McFarlane voices Ted and the stellar cast also includes Giovanni Ribisi, Patrick Warburton, Joel McHale and Jessica Stroup. Ted comes to theaters July 13 in the US and 3rd August in the UK.

New posters for Hick, Ted, Cosmopolis and Upside Down!

Last week we showed you a first trailer for David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis with Robert Pattinson and it looks as bizarre, violent, drug and sex fueled as anything the gonzo director has ever done, let alone anything anyone’s seen Pattinson in. This first poster gives us a brooding Pattinson as billionaire Eric Packer.

Riding across Manhattan in a stretch limo in order to get a haircut, a 28-year-old billionaire asset manager's day devolves into an odyssey with a cast of characters that start to tear his world apart.

Pattinson needed to take  a walk on the wild side in order to shake the shadow of Edward Cullen. (He had a lot of Belle Epoch sex with a lot of women in Bel Ami, but even that was nearly safe for the Twi-hards. Cosmopolis most certainly is not.)

Cosmopolis will be released in the US and the UK sometime after its probable appearance at Cannes.  France has a firm date of May 23.

New posters for Hick, Ted, Cosmopolis and Upside Down!

Last but not least, we have a new poster (out of Russia) for mind-bending love story Upside Down with Jim Sturgess and Kirsten Dunst.

“Adam is a seemingly ordinary guy in a very extraordinary universe. He lives humbly trying to make ends meet, but his romantic spirit holds on to the memory of a girl he met once upon a time from another world, an inverted affluent world with its own gravity, directly above but beyond reach… a girl named Eve. Their childhood flirtation becomes an impossible love. But when he catches a glimpse of grown-up Eve on television, nothing will get in the way of getting her back… Not even the law or science!”

No firm dates are known as yet, just a vague “2012”. I’m predicting a TIFF appearance for this one, by which time it will have been in the can for two and a half years.

Bambi is Not Safe from Bella

Teaser of a Trailer for a Trailer for Twilight: Breaking Dawn part 2

Well, even at only 46 seconds, this “full teaser trailer” for Twilight: Breaking Dawn-part 2 is still nearly four times as long as that “teaser for a teaser” we saw last week. This is apparently what’s showing in front of The Hunger Games (for us handful of souls on the planet who have yet to see that one).

It does confirm our suspicions that what they are giving us is our first look at Bella the vampire. She doesn’t look like she’s down with that whole vegetarian thing. If she starts hunting wild animals, that might cause some conflict in the marriange. What do you think?

The next and final chapter in THE TWILIGHT SAGA, THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN – PART 2 will arrive in theatres on November 16, 2012. Academy Award® winner Bill Condon directed both the first and second part of the two-part finale starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. The project, based on the fourth novel in author Stephenie Meyer’s “Twilight” series, was written by Melissa Rosenberg with Wyck Godfrey, Karen Rosenfelt and Stephenie Meyer producing.

Twilight: Breaking Dawn – part 2 stars, in addition to Stewart, Pattinson and Lautner, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Billy Burke, Ashley Greene, Michael Sheen, Dakota Fanning, Kellan Lutz, Nikki Reed, Jamie Campbell Bower, Maggie Grace, Lee Pace, Jackson Rathbone, Christopher Heyerdahl, MyAnna Buring, Cameron Bright and BooBoo Stewart. Given that it's still only March, there will be MUCH more to come.
